SkyAbove Therapy is looking for a passionate and skilled Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) to join our supportive special education team for the 2025-2026 school year!
Work collaboratively in a dynamic school environment, providing essential evaluation and therapy services to students from Early Childhood and Elementary. If you love helping children overcome communication challenges and thrive in their education, we want to hear from you!
What You’ll Do:
- Provide evidence based individual and/or group mental health and counseling to identified students
- Conduct threat assessment, suicide risk assessment, when requested
- Follow daily service documentation requirements
- Collaborate with community agencies
- Communicate and function effectively as a member of a classroom and school team (related service providers, paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, parents)
- Attend school district meetings when applicable and/or as requested by the department.
What You Bring:
- Florida Licensure: Must hold a current, active, and unrestricted license in the state of Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
- Education: A Master’s Degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, or mental health counseling services.
- School-Based Experience: A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience is preferred, with significant experience providing mental health services to children and adolescents in a K-12 school setting.
- Clinical Skills: Proven expertise in providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and risk assessments. Experience with trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices is essential.
- ESE Collaboration: Strong understanding of the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) process and experience contributing to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans by providing mental health goals and strategies.
- Consultation Abilities: Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation and training to teachers, parents, and school staff on social-emotional learning, classroom supports, and behavioral strategies.
- Compliance: Ability to pass a Level 2 background check as required by the state of Florida for working in schools.
