Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Assistant

SkyAbove Therapy is looking for a passionate and skilled Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Assistant to join our supportive special education team for the 2025-2026 school year!

Work collaboratively in a dynamic school environment, providing essential evaluation and therapy services to students from Early Childhood and Elementary. If you love helping children overcome communication challenges and thrive in their education, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide academic/social/emotional/behavioral/functional support to students with disabilities
  • Provide repetition of academic instruction in small groups or one to one
  • Supervision of students
  • Preparation of materials
  • Toileting/diapering/feeding/positioning/transferring/hygiene
  • Monitoring of health conditions
  • Classroom/student management
  • Implementation of positive behavior intervention plan
  • Complete data collection per student’s IEP and per the direction of the teacher
  • Provide IEP accommodations and modification
  • Communicate and function effectively as a member of a classroom team (related service providers, paraprofessionals)
  • Attend school district meetings when applicable and/or as requested by the department.

What You Bring:

  • Education: Minimum two (2) years of study at an institution of higher education or an associate degree (or higher) or provide verification of proficiency on the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children in a structured environment (e.g., school, daycare, camp) is required. Experience working directly with children with disabilities is strongly preferred.
  • Core Skills: Must possess a high degree of patience, compassion, and the ability to follow directions from the ESE teacher and other school staff with precision.
  • Teamwork: A positive and collaborative attitude with the ability to function as a supportive member of a classroom team.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to assist students with physical needs, which may include lifting, positioning, and assisting with personal care, as well as the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Preferred Certification: A passing score on the ParaPro Assessment or an active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification is a significant plus.
  • Compliance: Ability to pass a Level 2 background check as required by the state of Florida for working in schools.
