Exceptional Student Education Teacher

SkyAbove Therapy is looking for a passionate and skilled Exceptional Student Education Teacher to join our supportive special education team for the 2025-2026 school year!

Work collaboratively in a dynamic school environment, providing essential evaluation and therapy services to students from Early Childhood and Elementary. If you love helping children overcome communication challenges and thrive in their education, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and implement lessons according to state standards and individual IEP’s
  • Prepare IEPs, data collection, and progress monitoring for students on caseload
  • Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues
  • Maintain class records (including grades and progress monitoring to IEP goals)
  • Communicate and function effectively as a member of a classroom team (related service providers, paraprofessionals)
  • Attend school district meetings when applicable and/or as requested by the department.

What You Bring:

  • Florida Certification: Must hold a valid Florida Department of Education (DOE) Professional Educator Certificate in Exceptional Student Education (K-12) and Elementary: Elementary Education certification or Secondary: Any content area certification.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree preferably in education or related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of experience as a lead teacher in a special education classroom is strongly preferred, particularly with elementary or early childhood populations.
  • IEP Expertise: Demonstrable experience in developing, writing, and implementing high-quality, compliant Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Instructional Skills: Proficiency in using evidence-based practices, differentiated instruction, and positive behavior support strategies to meet the diverse academic, social, and functional needs of students.
  • Classroom Management: Strong skills in creating a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for students with a range of disabilities.
  • Compliance: Ability to pass a Level 2 background check as required by the state of Florida for working in schools.
